Robin Lewis, 78, was reported missing on November 15, prompting a major search effort. Gwent Police confirmed today that a body was found near the Afon Lwyd River in Ponthir on Sunday.
A spokesperson stated, “Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family of missing man Robin Lewis have been informed.”
CCTV Footage and Last Movements
Officers released several CCTV clips to piece together Robin’s last movements. He was seen in an Asda in Cwmbran, Wales, before walking through the town center two days before he vanished.
Robin was spotted outside a Morrisons petrol station at about 8:40 PM before crossing a railway road bridge ten minutes later. Further footage showed him in a car park and wandering through a darkened park.

At around 10:15 PM, police received a report of a man in the Afon Lwyd River near the car park. Gwent Police stated, “We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Robin at Morrisons petrol station, walking on Edlogan Way, and in particular, within Edlogan Way car park between 9 PM and 10 PM.”
“Extensive riverbank searches have been undertaken with the assistance of the coastguard, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), however no one has been found. Searches have continued using drones and the support of Mountain Rescue.”
