A man in London deliberately drove his car into security guards after a dispute over a baseball cap, injuring two and later killing another man in a similar attack
Driver Rams Car into Bouncers Over Hat Dispute
Trevelle Rowland, 34, drove his car into two security guards after they asked him to remove his baseball cap. This incident occurred months before he was charged with murder for another attack.
CCTV footage shows a group of bouncers near a red barrier. They watched as Rowland’s car suddenly jolted forward towards them. One bouncer was thrown onto the bonnet, while another was pushed to the ground as the car went through the barrier.
On May 29, 2023, Rowland rammed his VW into the bouncers in Barking, London. One security guard injured his knee and ankle, while the other hurt his hand. Rowland claimed he was unaware of the attack and had rented the car.
His story fell apart when both bouncers identified him. Rowland was charged with murder and two counts of attempted Section 18 grievous bodily harm.
Previous Incident Involving Rowland
On March 24, 2022, Rowland was involved in a similar incident. After an argument outside a restaurant, he drove off but returned to run into a man named Fergany Mvuezolo, 35, in the early hours of the morning.
Police arrived at 5:20 AM and found Mvuezolo seriously injured. Despite efforts to save him, he died at the scene in East Ham. Rowland attempted to flee the country but was arrested at Heathrow Airport later that day.
Upcoming Sentencing and Investigation Details
Rowland will be sentenced on Thursday for murder, dangerous driving, and two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm. Detective Inspector Aytac Necati, who led the investigation, described Rowland as an extremely dangerous man.
Necati stated, “Rowland used his car as a weapon against three men—one of whom tragically lost his life.” He also noted that both incidents were captured on CCTV.
The investigation was focused on gathering information from witnesses, which helped police quickly identify and apprehend Rowland.
