Hypnotherapist Accused of Drugging and Raping Women in France

A hypnotherapist allegedly drugged and raped dozens of women and filmed several of the attacks in France.

Cyril Zattara, 47, is currently on trial for sexually abusing 14 women over a decade. He is also accused of filming 20 alleged victims without their consent.

Zattara appeared in court on Monday in Aix-en-Provence. He has been charged with raping 14 women over 10 years.

Zattara, who is also a dance teacher, has admitted to 10 of the rape charges. He has been in detention for five years.

The trial is being held behind closed doors in Aix-en-Provence and is expected to last at least two weeks.

The case began in 2019 when a 24-year-old woman filed a complaint after a hypnosis session with Zattara, a self-taught hypnotherapist.

She claimed she was raped by Zattara after drinking part of a glass of wine, passing out, and later vomiting.

Zattara’s DNA was found under the alleged victim’s fingernails and inside her underwear.

The defendant is accused of slipping sleeping pills into various victims’ drinks before sexually assaulting them.

Police believe he often targeted women he was already friendly with or in intimate relationships with.

Alleged victims reported waking up dazed and confused after encounters with Zattara. He would blame their condition on his hypnosis or alcohol.

However, blood and hair tests showed that multiple victims had ingested tranquilizers.

Police also found photos and videos on Zattara’s computer showing the alleged victims in seemingly semi-conscious states during sex.
