A 30-year-old Afghan migrant pleaded guilty in Southampton Crown Court to sex offences against three women over five days
Guilty Plea in Sexual Assault Cases
Sohail Amiri has pleaded guilty to sex offences against three women over five days after entering the UK illegally.
The 30-year-old Afghan national sexually assaulted two women. One woman fought him off when he ambushed her just after midnight.
Amiri was staying at Highfield House Hotel in Southampton, a site of anti-immigration protests.
He appeared at Southampton Crown Court today. He pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault against two women on September 23 and November 25.
Amiri also admitted to one count of attempted sexual assault of a third victim on September 23.
He spoke with a Pashto interpreter and pleaded guilty to entering the UK without leave on October 23, 2023, violating Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971.
Hampshire Police reported that Amiri assaulted one woman on November 25 in Southampton.
The police stated, “It was reported a woman was walking along the road just after midnight when she was approached by a man she did not know who is alleged to have then tried to kiss her. She was able to force him off and run away.”
The September 23 attacks occurred on Westwood Road, where Amiri made inappropriate comments and approaches towards the two women.
He has been remanded into custody and will be sentenced on February 6 at the same court.
