Pregnant Woman Dies in Co Antrim Road Crash
A pregnant woman has died after a road crash in Co Antrim. Cathrene Kith Quinones Singco, aged in her 30s, died following a two-car collision near Nutts Corner in Crumlin on Sunday afternoon.
Police confirmed that she was pregnant and that her baby also died due to the collision. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time,” they stated.
The crash involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Skoda Superb on the Moira Road at about 2 PM. Police reported that the woman was a backseat passenger and died in the hospital from her injuries.
A man in his 30s, also a passenger in the same car, was critically injured. Several other people sustained minor injuries in the collision.
A police spokesperson said, “Our officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene. Sadly, a woman later died from her injuries.”
They are investigating the incident and seek public assistance. Witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting reference number 735 11/01/26.
Road Safety Campaign Statistics
This incident follows a report that twenty-six people lost their lives on Irish roads over the Christmas period. There were over 70 serious collisions that resulted in serious and life-threatening injuries.
The figures were released as part of the Garda’s Christmas Road Safety Campaign, which ran from December 1 to January 5. The campaign included a dedicated road traffic enforcement operation.
During this operation, Gardaí conducted nearly 10,000 checkpoints, including drink and drug testing. Some 765 people were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

A Garda spokesperson emphasized that those who break the law put themselves and others at risk. They stated, “These drivers did not think of the consequences.”
They added, “The drivers who chose to drive while under the influence of an intoxicant and in excess of the speed limit also live in our communities and have families, friends, and work colleagues who can influence them.”
