A 52-year-old roofer was jailed for 13.5 years after killing a woman during a police chase at Aston Wood Golf Club in Shenstone, Staffordshire.
Roofer Sentenced for Fatal Golf Course Incident
A roofer has been sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison for the death of a mother-of-three on a golf course during a police chase.
John McDonald, 52, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He hit 62-year-old Suzanne Cherry with a van that police were pursuing.
The incident occurred on 11 April last year at Aston Wood Golf Club in Shenstone, Staffordshire. Ms. Cherry was playing golf with her husband at the time.
Clint Harrison, Ms. Cherry’s husband, stated that she would be “painfully missed” by her family and friends. He described the moment of the incident, saying he “watched in helpless horror” as Ms. Cherry was struck.
“While enjoying what should have been the safest of one of Suzanne’s many activities, I watched in helpless horror as the life of my beautiful wife and our future together was snatched away in an instant,” he said.
