Briton Jailed for Selling Suicide Drug Online

A Briton, Miles Cross, 33, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for selling a “suicide” drug online for £100. His actions are linked to the deaths of two individuals.

Details of the Case

Cross operated a business selling the poison through a web forum, using the pseudonym “hiddenpain.” He shared a QR code that allowed four people to purchase the chemical directly, which he then mailed using Royal Mail.

One victim, 29-year-old Shubreet Singh from Leeds, paid £100 for the package and has since died. Another unnamed woman also took her own life after purchasing the poison from Cross.

Legal Proceedings

Cross pleaded guilty to four counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting suicide. Judge Rhys Rowlands described the case as “rare and extremely serious,” noting that two individuals died due to Cross’s actions.

The court learned that Cross targeted vulnerable individuals on the suicide forum. He advertised the poison by sharing a picture and expressing disdain for the UK government.

Investigation and Arrest

Between August and September 2024, Cross sent packages of the chemical to four victims, each paying him £100. His crimes were uncovered during a separate investigation by Thames Valley Police.

North Wales Police raided Cross’s home in January 2025, finding quantities of the chemical and related items, including 96 zip foil bags.

Evidence and Victim Impact

Evidence showed that Shubreet had communicated with Cross before her death, discussing their “last meal.” She reportedly took her own life on September 1, two days before being discovered.

Another victim’s father also died after using the chemical purchased from Cross. Fortunately, two of the four packages sold were never used.

Victim Statements

One victim stated, “At the time I made the decision to purchase this substance, I felt vulnerable, overwhelmed, and struggled silently.” They expressed gratitude for their recovery and highlighted the ease of access to the substance.

Online Safety Measures

North Wales Police noted that the forum used by Cross is under investigation by Ofcom, following the Online Safety Act initiated in April 2025. The National Crime Agency is working to restrict access to the forum for UK users.

Official Statements

Detective Superintendent Chris Bell remarked, “Today’s sentence reflects the severity of Cross’s offending, as he preyed on his victims online.” He acknowledged the impact on the families of the deceased and praised the survivors for their courage during the investigation.
