A mother has been charged with murdering her four-year-old daughter in a fire at their family home. Carrin Wibier, 45, from Rusholme, Manchester, faces charges of murder and arson with intent to endanger life. Her daughter, Lesma-Rose Wibier, tragically died after the blaze at their home in March last year.
Lesma-Rose Wibier died from her injuries in the hospital after the fire in Rusholme. Carrin Wibier has been charged with her murder. The alleged perpetrator appeared via video link at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. She confirmed her name, address, and date of birth.
Ms. Wibier was not asked to enter any pleas to the two charges. The case was adjourned for a further hearing in March, with a trial provisionally scheduled for June.
Details of the Incident
The fire occurred on March 2, 2025, when fire crews were called to the property in Rusholme. Emergency services extinguished the fire and retrieved Lesma-Rose. Sadly, she died from her injuries in the hospital.
Signs of smoke damage were visible on the upstairs windows of the red-brick house after the fire. The girl’s family paid tribute, stating, “Lesma-Rose was the star of the family. Anyone who knew her knew she was the most beautiful girl inside and out.” They added, “She always had a smile on her face and could put the same on others.”
Ben Levy, area manager for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, said that crews from four stations attended the blaze. He expressed condolences to the family and friends of the young girl who tragically lost her life.
